3 Principles to Create Lasting Change

By nathenhache

An individual can decide to change for any reason. Reasons for change can range from dieting, spending more time with the family, becoming more romantically involve with your partner, business goals, and life goals. We all desire to change for many reasons. Here are three elementary principles of change that you can use immediately to change your life.

Raise Your Standards

Anytime you sincerely want to make a change, the first thing you must do is raise your standards. Write down all the things you will no longer accept in your life, all the things you will no longer tolerate, and all the things you aspire to become.

People like Leonardo da Vinci, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr, Rosa Parks, Albert Einstein, and many others took the powerful step of raising their standards. The same power that was available to them is available to you, if you have the courage to claim it. Changing a company, organization, country, or world begins with the simple step of changing yourself

Change Your Limiting Beliefs

If you raise your standards but don’t really believe you can meet them, you’ve already sabotaged yourself. You won’t even try and you will lack certainty. What we believe tells us how things are, what to do, what we can and cannot do. Our beliefs shape our actions, thoughts, and every feeling that we experience. As a result, changing your belief systems is central to making any real and lasting change in your life. You must develop a sense of certainty that you can and will meet new standards before you actually do.

Change Your Strategy

You need the best strategies for achieving results. If you set a higher standard, and you can get yourself to believe, then you certainly can figure out the strategies. You simply will find a way. The best strategy in almost any case is to find a role-model. Someone who is already getting the results you want, and then tap into their knowledge. Learn what they are doing, what their beliefs are, and how they think. This will make you more effective and save you lots of time because you won’t have to reinvent the wheel. You can fine-tune it, reshape it, and maybe even make it better.

Conclusion

In life, lots of people know what to do, but few people actually do what they know. Knowing is not enough! You must take action! Many people attempt change with a sense of fear, but don’t let fear hold you back. Life is a gift, and it offers us the privilege, opportunity, and responsibility to give something back by becoming more.
